Chris Grollnek Speaks – International Public Speaker

Homeland Security

In October 2015, the Dallas Field Division of the U.S. Department of Justice sent an All-Hands notice to its officers, case agents, attorneys, and support personnel across DOJ and DEA. It read, in part:

“SAC Wiles will introduce expert and voice on Active Shooter Events, Mr. Chris Grollnek, who will provide an informative presentation on ‘Active Shooter Prevention.'”

Assistant to the Assistant Special Agent in Charge II, Dallas Field Division, U.S. Department of Justice, October 2015

I did not write that sentence. The Department of Justice did, in an internal announcement to its own people, and it is the only claim on this page I did not have to make myself.

Since then the Department of Justice selected the P.R.O. Model™ as A national standard for active shooter prevention across two consecutive program windows, 2022 through 2025 and 2026 through 2030, and it is in use at some installations and commands across the Department of Defense. The selection and the national training video are documented at aspppro.com/doj-recognition.

The United States Army named me “one of the country’s foremost authorities on active shooters” in its own October 2024 reporting on the Blue Grass Army Depot detection demonstration.

What people are saying

From a federal prosecutor of 31 years, written unprompted after a Dallas Division presentation. Name withheld due to a sensitive position, DEA, United States Department of Justice:

“I was sitting front and center at your 9:30 presentation this morning. Thank you so very much for taking time out of your day to educate our DEA employees. I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation, and we all learned a lot. I’ve been a prosecutor for 31 years now. I’ve taught for years at various police and sheriff’s office academies, rape crisis centers, Texas District and County Attorney Association training, and the National Advocacy Center training center for federal prosecutors. I also served as the Chief of Staff for the last two Administrators of DEA at our Headquarters in the Washington D.C. area. Suffice it to say, law enforcement and the people dedicated to that profession are my life. You, my friend, represent our profession so very well. Not only showing passion and compassion for us but for the communities we serve. Thank you.”

“Chris is a gifted speaker who communicates his message better than anyone I have ever seen, and turned a very real topic into a semi-comedy show.”
Executive Director, Public Relations

“What an entertaining hour spent. The active shooter presentation was almost worth the price of the whole three days of the seminar. Thank you for seeking out this speaker. Next year, I respectfully request to have him back.”
Director of Risk Management

“The speaker who provided the speech on Security Through Environmental Design, the bald one, have him back or we won’t be back. What a great show. I forgot it was a security conference and the gaming machines left my mind. This was one of the most entertaining and informative seminars I’ve ever attended.”
Vice President, Global Affairs

“The presentation was very captivating. Chris does a very effective job delivering key points about active shooters while maintaining a fun and lively atmosphere. Our audience enjoyed the interactive nature of the presentation and the personal stories and experience given by Chris.”
Executive Director, IREM Orange County

“Chris Grollnek has done an outstanding job providing clients the tools needed during these highly dynamic events.”
Retired police officer, SWAT commander, and law enforcement trainer

Why the room stays with it

This is the hardest topic anyone will put on a conference agenda, and most speakers handle it by frightening the audience. Fear does not produce preparedness. It produces avoidance, and an audience that avoids the subject goes back to work having changed nothing.

So I do it the other way. The room laughs, the room relaxes, and the room learns something it will still have in five years. That is not a style choice. It is the only delivery method I have found that survives contact with a Monday morning.

I also do not sell products from a stage. There is nothing to buy at the back of the room.

The argument itself is set out in full in the fire model, which is the shortest way to understand what I actually teach.
